Timken Drives Agricultural Chain is engineered for the high-shock, abrasive conditions found in modern farm equipment — combines, round and square balers, forage harvesters, planters, and conveyors moving grain, hay, or silage. Every series uses heat-treated bushings and solid pins to resist fatigue and wear under sustained cyclic load.
- Construction: Bushed roller chain with heat-treated solid pins and bushings, riveted sideplates.
- Pitch: 1.630" (A550 / A550 HD / A557 / CA550 / CA551X / CA557) and 1.654" (A620 / CA620) — the two industry-standard agricultural pitches that interchange directly with OEM chain from Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Vermeer, AGCO / Hesston, Krone, and Claas.
- A-Series vs. CA-Series: A-series is standard agricultural duty with factory pin hardness. CA-series (CA550 / CA557 / CA620) uses extra pin-surface hardening for extended service life in severe duty.
- Heavy-duty variants: A550 HD uses larger pins and thicker sideplates than base A550. CA551X is the extreme-duty 1.630" option with a 0.437" pin and 20,000 lb average tensile — built for big square balers and forage headers.
- Working-load ratings: 1,400 – 2,400 lb continuous, with 11,250 – 20,000 lb average ultimate tensile strength per ANSI B29.1 standards.
- Typical applications: Pickup drives, bale-chamber drives, feeder-house drives, clean-grain elevators, rotor drives, auger drives, planter drive shafts, and heavy-duty farm conveyors.
