Timken® Fafnir Insert Ball Bearings
GY Series — Shaft Guard Technology (SGT)
Timken Fafnir GY-series insert bearings with Shaft Guard Technology (SGT) feature a patented polymer sleeve between the locking collar and the shaft surface, preventing the metal-to-metal contact that causes shaft damage during installation and operation. When the bearing needs replacement, the shaft is unmarred — no filing, no polishing, no shaft replacement. This translates directly to faster turnarounds and lower maintenance costs.
The SGT sleeve also dampens vibration transmission between the collar and shaft, reducing noise in fan, blower, and conveyor applications. Available with eccentric collar locking and triple-lip seals for dirty, wet, or high-contamination environments. Spherical O.D. fits standard self-aligning housed units (pillow blocks, flanged units, take-ups).
Timken (NYSE: TKR) acquired the Fafnir bearing brand in 2003, combining Fafnir’s 90+ year legacy in mounted ball bearing technology with Timken’s global engineering expertise.
