    Product Description

Carlisle Super Blue Ribbon 8V V-Belt

Narrow Wedge 8V Section — Available in Smooth & Cogged — Manufactured by Timken/Carlisle

    Overview
    Specifications
    Belt Selector

The Carlisle Super Blue Ribbon 8V narrow wedge V-belt features a 1″ top width × 7/8″ depth cross-section and is available in both Smooth and Cogged profiles. The 8V section is the largest of the narrow wedge belt family, designed for heavy-duty industrial drives requiring maximum power transmission in a compact footprint.

Smooth (Wrapped) — “8V” Prefix: Traditional wrapped construction with heavy-duty cover fabric. The fabric wrap provides excellent grip and quiet operation. The deep wedge profile transmits significantly more horsepower per belt than classical section belts. Best for sheave diameters 14.0″ and above.

Cogged (Notched) — “8VX” Prefix: Raw-edge cogged construction with precision-molded notches on the underside. Provides superior flexibility around small sheaves, cooler running temperatures, and up to 30%% greater efficiency on small-diameter pulleys compared to smooth belts. Recommended for sheave diameters under 14.0″ or variable-speed drives.

    Engineering Specifications:

    • Cross Section: 1″ (top width) × 7/8″ (depth) — ANSI/RMA Narrow Wedge 8V-section
    • Speed Range: Up to 6,500 ft/min
    • Temperature Range: -30°F to +140°F continuous; +180°F intermittent
    • Min. Sheave Pitch Diameter: 10.0″ (cogged); 12.5″ (smooth, 14.0″ recommended)
    • Cord Material: Specially treated polyester for flex-fatigue resistance
    • Cover: Oil, heat, and ozone resistant rubber compound
    • Matching: Chek-Mate electronically matched for multi-belt drives
✅ Ironclad Guarantee: All Carlisle/Timken belts sold by Lambear Industries are genuine, factory-fresh stock backed by the Carlisle Ironclad Guarantee — the industry’s strongest belt warranty. Defective product? Contact us for a full replacement.

    Horsepower Ratings per Belt — 8V-Section (1″ x 7/8″) at 1,750 RPM

These ratings apply to all 8V and 8VX belts. For multi-belt drives, multiply by the number of belts.

    Sheave Pitch Dia.HP per Belt
    12.5″14.9
    13.2″17.0
    14.0″19.2

    31.5″46.1
    33.5″47.6
    37.5″49.8
    40.0″50.8

1 HP ratings are for single 8V-section belt at 1,750 RPM with 180° arc of contact. For multi-belt drives, multiply by number of belts and apply arc correction factor.

2 Cogged (8VX) belts provide approximately 15-20%% additional HP capacity on small sheaves due to improved flex.

3 All dimensions shown in tri-format: fractional, decimal, and metric where applicable.

Select your belt by part number. Smooth belts use the “8V” prefix. Cogged belts use the “8VX” prefix. Table scrolls — headers stay fixed.

1 Smooth (8V) and Cogged (8VX) belts are interchangeable on the same sheave — cogged versions provide better flex and efficiency on small pulleys.

2 8V narrow wedge belt numbers represent the outside circumference in inches. All dimensions in tri-format.

    🔧 V-Belt Length Calculator

Enter your sheave diameters and center distance to calculate the correct 8V-belt size. We’ll recommend the closest belt from our inventory.

    Formula: Belt Length = 2C + 1.57(D + d) + (D − d)² ⁄ 4C

Where C = center distance, D = large sheave pitch dia., d = small sheave pitch dia.

    8V-section pitch diameter ≈ sheave O.D. − 0.5″.

Tip: If the calculated size falls between two belt numbers, choose the next size up and adjust the motor mount to increase center distance for proper tension.
