Product Description
Crescent® Adjustable Tapered Handle Wrench
Heat-Treated Forged Alloy Steel — Satin Chrome — 15”, 18” & 24”
The Crescent Adjustable Tapered Handle Wrench is the original that started it all — over a century of refinement packed into a tool trusted by mechanics, maintenance crews, and field technicians across every industry. The tapered handle design sheds weight where you don’t need it and concentrates leverage where you do, giving you a natural two-handed grip point for maximum torque on stubborn fasteners. Available in 15”, 18”, and 24” lengths to cover everything from mid-range hex bolts to oversized pipe fittings and structural hardware.
Every Crescent tapered handle wrench is forged from heat-treated alloy steel and finished in satin chrome with a polished face for corrosion resistance that holds up in shop and field environments alike. The larger knurl provides a tighter jaw fit with less play, and the hex jaw geometry grips fasteners on the flats — not the corners — to minimize rounding. A laser-etched dual scale (SAE and Metric) on the jaw lets you identify fastener size at a glance without reaching for a tape measure.
Jaw capacity scales with wrench size: the 15” opens to 1-11/16” (43mm), the 18” reaches 2-1/16” (53mm), and the 24” maxes out at a massive 2-7/16” (62mm). The tension spring keeps the jaw stable during adjustment, eliminating the wobble that plagues cheaper wrenches. Built to meet or exceed both ANSI and ASME specifications, backed by Crescent’s full lifetime warranty.

Where the Crescent Tapered Handle Earns Its Keep
The tapered handle adjustable wrench sits in the heavy-duty end of the Crescent lineup. These aren’t pocket wrenches — they’re the tools you grab when leverage and jaw capacity matter more than portability. Here’s where our customers reach for them:
- Agricultural Equipment — hydraulic fittings, implement hitch pins, PTO shaft bolts, and mid-field repairs where a full socket set isn’t practical
- Industrial Maintenance — large pipe unions, flange bolts, pump couplings, and conveyor adjustments in manufacturing and processing plants
- Automotive & Fleet — suspension components, exhaust clamps, large battery terminals, and heavy under-chassis work
- HVAC & Plumbing — 1”+ compression fittings, union nuts, gas line connections, and boiler work
- Construction & Ironwork — scaffold clamps, structural bolts, anchor hardware, and rebar tie-downs
Sizing Guide: The 15” (1-11/16” jaw) handles most mid-range to large fasteners and is the most versatile of the three. Step up to the 18” (2-1/16” jaw) for pipe fittings and industrial hardware. The 24” (2-7/16” jaw) is your heavy hitter for structural bolts, large flanges, and anything that needs serious leverage.
1 All dimensions follow the Lambear tri-format: Imperial fraction – Decimal inches – Metric (mm).
2 Jaw capacity measured at maximum opening. All wrenches meet or exceed ANSI and ASME specifications.
